An Autumnal TBR:
Books you need to read this Autumn for all the seasonal feels:
Before you start reading, I want you to get up, go make a hot chocolate (with an excessive amount of cream and marshmallows), light your autumnal candle, and snuggle up with a blanket.
Ready? Good.
AUTUMNAL READS AUTUMNAL READS AUTUMNAL READS.
The rain has started, the air is cooler, the nights are drawing in.
If you’re anything like me, that combination is a one-way street to an autumn TBR, and I’m here to help you make the perfect list as we enter the -ber months.
My favourite autumn reads:
The Pumpkin Spice Café
The most perfect little book that feels exactly like a hot drink and a warm blanket on a cold, rainy day. Calling all Gilmore Girls fans, this one is for you!
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
If you haven’t read a Harry Potter in the flickering candlelight whilst the rain lashes against your window, then you are seriously missing out.
The Housemaid
This three part series is the perfect read when the nights are coming to a close.
Freida McFadden, known for her many twists and turns, will have your mind working overtime to try and get ahead of her. Spoiler alert, you won’t. She’ll always surprise you.
Don’t Let Her Stay
There’s something about a mystery that just screams autumn to me.
Joanne has the perfect life. Perfect husband, perfect house, perfect baby. Until her husband’s twenty-year-old daughter comes crashing into their lives, ready to drive Joanne out for good.
Normal People
A must read for all the literary fiction lovers.
After, you can binge the tv series, you know you want to.
If He Had Been With Me
Sometimes, you just need a sad book to be utterly consumed by, and the story of Autumn and Finny will draw you in completely, leaving you yearning for one more chapter.
Please, be warned, you will sob.
A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder
Follow Pip as she dedicates a school project to unpacking the all too quick to be solved case of Andie Bell, the most popular girl in town, murdered by her boyfriend, Sal Singh.
From the very first chapter, l was instantly engaged.
In a town full of heartbreak and mystery, Pip was perfect for solving the one murder that nobody else could.
I loved following her along this journey of twists and turns.
BONUS: tune in to the adaptation of AGGGTM on BBC iPlayer!
If, like me, you are a mood reader and cannot read anything that doesn’t fit with the current vibes, you will know that spring and summer are for the fun and flirty romances, whereas autumn and winter are for the all-consuming fantasy reads.
Fantasy is the IT girl of autumn. Everyone wants her, everyones chasing her, everyone has to have her.
So, grab your SJM, your Rebecca Yarros, your V.E. Schwab, and join us in becoming autumnal fantasy girlies.
Read with me! What I’m reading this autumn:
● Throne of Glass
- If I put this off any longer, my best friend might just kidnap me and
never let me leave until I finish the series. Actually, that sounds
amazing, to be honest.
- Everyone should experience the phenomenal stories that Sarah J
Maas creates. Not a day has gone by since reading ACOTAR and
Crescent City that I haven’t thought about them. What’s one more
series to add to the mix?
● Quicksilver
- One of TikTok’s most popular books right now, and it seems it’s being
hyped up for a reason.
● Fourth Wing
- I may just be the last person on earth to read this, but what’s more
autumnal than a book about dragons? Nothing.
● One Dark Window
- One of the most intriguing blurbs I’ve read in a while, makes me want
to dive right in.
● The Cinnamon Bun Bookstore
- The Pumpkin Spice Café lovers, this is for us. It’s our time.
- Keep an eye out for my next issue for a full review ;)
● The Reappearance of Rachel Price
- Holly Jackson hits differently in autumn.
● The Dead Romantics
- A paranormal romance? Sign me up.
● Deathly Hallows
- My comfort series is coming to an end, so bittersweet.
● The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue
- I need to make my V.E. Schwab debut, and it has to be with The
invisible Life of Addie LaRue.
